Inspired by real events.

The lives of two sisters, Cecilia and Carmen, change completely when they cross paths with “John of God”, a famous mystical leader who attracts thousands of people to the little town of Abadiânia in Brazil in search of healing. 

Seventeen years later, during the week before the fall and arrest of “the greatest healer in Brazil”, accused of committing hundreds of sexual abuses over decades, Cecilia, who went to live in Lisbon, returns to Abadiânia to rescue Carmen, now a loyal employee of John. The sisters’ reunion – each on one side of the story – overlaps with the fall of John of God´s empire.
